Due to several comments made by the author of the Harry Potter franchise, a lot of fans have been left feeling hurt, unaccepted, and extremely disappointed. Other fandoms have been showing support during this time, letting Potter-heads know that they are valid and are fully accepted within every other fictional world and community. One of these fictional worlds is Camp Half-Blood, from the Percy Jackson franchise - an extremely interesting young adult book series. The franchise has expanded to film, and soon will be released as a live action show on Disney Plus.

The Percy Jackson series as a whole presents many similarities to that of the Harry Potter franchise, proving that if fans gave this series a chance they would thoroughly enjoy it. Percy Jackson is full of adventure - every book is packed with action and exciting battles between the main characters and all sorts of mythical monsters. The series itself is based off of Greek Mythology, featuring Greek Gods, Titans, and various immortal creatures. Percy Jackson fights hellhounds, minotaurs, and even Medusa! Centaurs also make an appearance, as well as an immortal being by the name of Argus, whose body is covered with blue eyes. The books feature numerous mystical animal-like creatures, reminiscent of what HP fans love about Fantastic Beasts. These include a black colored pegasus, a very loyal hellhound, and the presence of a hippocampus, which is described as a sea-horse like mythological creature.

Similar to that of the 4 Harry Potter houses; Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin, the Percy Jackson series presents different demigod camps. Camp Half-Blood has 12 different cabins, representing 12 different gods - such as Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Apollo, among others. While Camp Half-Blood is not a school of witchcraft and wizardry, the demigods that attend all possess superhuman abilities and attributes. The characters throughout the Percy Jackson books are very loveable and possess a variety of unique personalities; they are extremely interesting and well-written. Some of the characters struggle with Dyslexia as well as ADHD, issues that many face in their daily lives. It provides them with characters that they can relate to on a more personal level and that aren’t always present in other fandoms. Character development is also key - each of the characters undergoes exceptional growth as they age. They also experience realistic approaches to romantic relationships and friendships, further allowing readers to connect with these characters on a more personal level. The books are also quite humorous, providing tons of inside jokes and hysterical comedic moments for readers of all ages to enjoy.

The Percy Jackson books feature a variety of attributes that have similar interests to those present within the Harry Potter franchise. From the presence of mythical creatures, unique abilities, various magical elements, Greek Gods, and the Half-Blood camp as a whole, The Percy Jackson books are packed with excitement, adventure, and epic battles; they also present realistic elements of friendships and personal struggles. The series is heartwarming and overall very loveable. Potter-Heads who give this franchise a chance will not be disappointed, and will find that not only are there similar elements present, but that the Percy Jackson franchise is itself quite unique and interesting - and might even become the readers’ new favorite series.
